FAQ

  • How do I reserve a spot and make a payment for my pet?
To reserve a spot at Hamster Lodge™, a deposit equivalent to a one-day boarding fee is mandatory. This deposit becomes non-refundable in any circumstances if the pet owner chooses to cancel the boarding session. The rest of the amount is due on the first day of boarding. For bunnies, a RHDV vaccine certificate is required to make a reservation. Vaccination must be at least 2 weeks before arrival.
  • What happens to my deposit if I cancel my boarding?
The deposit is non-refundable in any circumstances if the pet owner chooses to cancel the boarding session. As our goal is to provide you and your pets with the highest-quality, individualized care in a timely and respectful manner. Last-minute cancellations do affect our clients who need to board their pets. If boarding is cancelled within 5 days, 50% of the total boarding fee for the entire duration will be billed.
  • Is there any extra cost for boarding my small pet on holidays?
There is no surcharge for hamster, bunny, chinchillas or other small animal pets during holidays. We keep our rates affordable so that every one can board at Hamster Lodge™ anytime.
  • Will my furry creature be home sick?
At Hamster Lodge™, we want your furry friend to have the time of their life! We'll do our best to keep them stress-free, comfy, and happy while they're with us. To make them feel extra cozy, bring along their favorite toys and treats - just like home! And if your hamster or bunny needs any special attention during their stay, just let us know - we're all ears! Let's make this vacation one for the books.
  • Do you provide pick up service for my furry lil creature?
If you're within the 10002 zipcode, we'll happily come pick up your furry friend for their stay at Hamster Lodge™. That said, we do encourage pet guardians to set up their pet boarding space with us. We think it's super fun for pet owners to set up their furry friend's boarding space with us.
  • My bunny and hamster are used to free roaming at home. Will you allow my bunny and hamster to free roam in your place?
Absolutely! Just like you, we believe in giving our furry friends plenty of room to roam at Hamster Lodge™. That’s why our bunnies enjoy their own bunny-proof zones during the day, where they can hop and roll to their heart’s content. Rest assured, your pet will never have to share their space—it's all theirs for endless play!
  • Which animals do you board?
We primarily board bunnies, hamsters, and guinea pigs. However, for unique exotic pets such as chinchillas, sugar gliders and rats that require a vertical habitat, we offer personalized house call arrangements.
  • What if my pet is not feeling well during boarding?
If the pet is unwell due to some unforeseen circumstances during boarding and, in Hamster Lodge™'s opinion, requires veterinarian attention, the owner will be notified immediately. If owner is not contactable, the pet will be brought to The Animal Medical Center at 510 E 62nd St, New York, NY 10065, unless otherwise instructed before the boarding period. This is the only emergency place in Manhattan that specializes exotic small animals such as hamsters, rabbits and other small animal pets.
  • I need to make an urgent, unplanned overseas trip. Are last minute bookings possible?
Be it hamster, bunny or all other small animal pets, we accept last minute bookings, subject to availability of boarding spaces. If not, we do provide house calls. Please email us directly at hamsterlodge@gmail.com or text us at 646.580.2009.
  • Can I send my supplies to you in advance?
Yes of course! Please let us know in advance and we'll look out for that package.
